Channa Dos from Karen's recipe book


1 cup Gram dhal
2 cups semolina
1 lb dessicated coconut
1 1/2 lb sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 oz butter
A few cardamom pods and Caraway seeds


Boil gram dhal with salt and sufficient water till cooked. Blend to a fine paste.
Make syrup of sugar with 1 cup of water till thick.
Add blended coconute and cook for 10 mins.
Add gram dhal for 3 mins.
Add semolina, butter and cook on low heat till it dries and leaves pan.
Add few cardmoms for flavor.
Pour into pie plate.
